I started (attempted to) become a vegetarian last month. My roommate had been a vegetarian for years and all she had in the freezer was veggie food, so I decided to buy my own and give it a try. I liked it, I could actually see myself eating that stuff. So I was veg for three days until I moved back home. It’s hard being vegetarian around my mom; she cooks good food, buys good food, and what’s worse, she makes fun of me becoming a vegetarian. I don’t think it’s a laughing matter, it’s for a good cause. I’ve always been an animal lover, animal “activist” (I am not active though..).
So I ordered PETA’s little guide on how to transition to becoming veg. It helped and encouraged me more. Recently I just bought only veggie food from the grocery store. Who knows when I will start that. Everytime I start eating veggie food, I break my strike (of what, half a day or a day) by eating chicken. It’s difficult because I’m the only one in the family that’s actually trying out vegetarianism.
Oh, yesterday I started watching Sex and the City, the first two episodes of Season 1. I like it already. I never really did watch that show, but it’s so feministically funny.

As much as I love animals too, you would think it would be hard for me to eat them! I have considered going all veggie too but it’s a lot of work and you’d have to really eat well to get all of the benefits of meat in an all veg diet. (So I’ve read). Plus, being that I live with someone who loves meat and would never give it up, it would add another obstacle. Plus, I love meat too. Gah! It would be so hard. I wish you the best of luck. I think it’s wonderful that you’re attempting to give it a try, at least.
Good for you, Hallie girl.
